COLLAPSE OF THE "SUPER"ABUNDANT CABINET.

The defeat of the Stafford- Rei.t Ministry will be regarded as a ealamity by none but its immediate partizaus. Its composite organisation from the first carried within itself the seeds of speedy dissolution. Mbtwith. standing its cry of purity and economy of administration, three members of this " Super "-abundant Cabinet had consciences so elastic as to admit of their drawing salaries at the rate ofv at least, £I6OO per head per anuuin for their services.- The swallowed without scruple the "platform" of their opponents ; and in every instance of departure from the beaten path of their predecessors they made their incapacity too palpable, even to their own supporters. Their suicidal native policy and their attempted emascula. tion of public works were of themselves sufficient to rouse the country to a painful sense of the incompetency of men who were more powerful for mischief than for government, and who, though successful in ousting a satisfactory administration were%j little capable of supplying its place. Mr Stafford has tried hard to get the Governor to dissolve the House; but _ the Governor has seemingly declined unless supplies are granted. In the face of a firm and compact Opposition, daily gathering strength, there is little doubt that the defeated Government will get doubly beaten after a big fight; and will add fresh laurelß to its already offensive reputation, by selfishly clinging to place and obstructing the business of the country. Iu spite of this unseemly struggle for political life, in spite of intriguing, the "lobbying," and the closeting now going on, we expect soon to hear that Mr Vogel has been sent for and that a Ministry compris. ing Waterhouae, Vogel, Hall, M'Lean, and Ormond, has been successfully formed. —' Colonist.'
