In the House last night Mr Stafford said the Government fully recognised the existence of discontent on the Nelson Goldfields, but did not think the Annexation Bill prepared by the late government met the case. Possibly a decision on it might be asked for, but the Ministers did not take it up in its present form. The Government will prepare another bill to meet tho case, giving local powers. The Nelson Goldfields, he said, objected to be saddled with Westland's debt. O'Conor said the bill prepared by Mr Fox was a great sham. White said tho question had been latterly made a political handle of by the late ministry. Consideration of the Unification Bill is postponed till Friday. GIiEYMOUTH. Sept, 19.
