PARLIAMENTARY NEWS.
On the division on Mr Stafford's first resolution in favor of the opposition Mr Stafford asked leave to withdraw the second and third resolutions. Mr Fox refused to allow it. On division, the second resolution was carried— 38 to 39, and the third resolution was carried—4o to 36.
On the following evening, Mr Eox announced that the Ministry had tendered their resignations, and now only held office till their successors were ready. They had advised the Government to send for Mr Stafford. He desired to express their sense of the extremely satisfactory relation which, during their term of office, had existed between the Governor and the Ministry. Mr Stafford announced that he had been sent for, and had accepted the task of forming a Ministry. He hoped on Tuesday to be able to make a satisfactory statement. The following day it was rumored that the ntw Ministry would consist of Messre Stafford, Waterhouse, Gillies, lieid, and Curtis, but up to the eveniug of Mouday no defiuite political announcement had been made and the impression gained ground that a coalition ministry would eventuate. If Messrs Gillies and Curtis accept office two Superintendences will become vacant, and the ' Graliamstown Advertiser' suggests that Mr John Williamson \vi 1 be the next Superintendent of Auckland The 'coming man' for Nelson has not yet been suggested.
The Otago ' Times' considers that parties are so evenly balanced that it is difficult to see how other than a coabtion Ministry causecurea working majority to carry on the business of the country, and suggests that, unless Mr Stafford is certain of a fair work'nj majority, he had better abandon the idea altogether of forming a new Cabinet.
