Charles Sibree, known as Yankee Charlie, was arrested by the police at Boatman's creek, yesterday, charged on suspicion with the murder of Thomas Costello. The prisoner was brought before the magistrate to-day, and was remanded for evidence until Wednesday next. DUNEDIN The Caversham election resulted as follows: —Tolmie, 217 ; Cutten, 152 ; majority for Tolmie, (55. Mr Tolmie, in addressing the electors, denied he was ever party to the sale of the Moa Flat block of land. He stated that, as Deputy Superintendent, he protested solemnly against the sale.
