The schooner Dunedin, consigned to Mess-s Stitt Bro«.,'left Dunedin on the evening of the 4th instant for this port. Called at Oamaru nnd fded up -with sixty tons of produce. Lett there on the evening of the 6th. and experienced a series of heavy N.W. and westerly gales, shifting occasionally to the southward for a few hours only. Passed Cook Straits on the I Oth, and afterwards had fine weather up to arrival in the roads on the forenoon of the 19th. She was towed in by the Charles Edward the same evening, and was towed out yesterday afternoon by the "Wallabi. It is satisfactory to note that Captain Stewart has not been deterred from returning again to West-port, notwithstanding that his tight, little craft, the Dunedin, was stranded in the river during his last trip, and knocked about upon the boulders sufficient to all appearances to cause her to fill, or at least work serious damage. Her solid build and substantial timbers, however, bore her safely through the ordeal, and she escaped uninjured, of which exceeding good proof is given from the fact that she has just discharged her carf o in first-class condition, without a single stain ; being the third cargo in succession she has brought to West-port, with the like favorable result. Wo are advised that the p.s. Charles Edward will leave Nelson at midnight (Friday) for Greymouth and Hokitika direct, in order, no doubt, to time her arrival at AVestport on the return trip so as not to interfere with the running of tho other boats of the Anchor Line.
