ADDISON'S FLAT.

(To the Editor of the Westport Times.) Sift—l hope you will insert a few remarks I have to make on a correspondent's letter from Addison's, which appeared in Tuesday's issue. Your correspondent evidently wants to secure all the Shamroek Flat for himself andjparty; ifhe only eouldmaaage to do so, and get the shares into scrip, and himself legal manager, things would go ahead with ft vengeance, for he can talk Ballarat. Now this party holds ground amounting to twentyfour acres —in all goodness, claim enough for one party, even if they have 4000 feet of a tunnel to drive. I may state that your correspondent has a share in the said tunnel, although he never drove a foot in it I may also state that your correspondent is like some others I am slightly acquainted with, he is fond of sections, for he likewise holds a hen farm. lam not aware if Government is receiving any revenue from this farm, but I should think not, for he says he would have all the ground along his tunnel taken up in lease, if it was not for the expense. Another party taking up a slaim near him cannot injure him, for the Goldfields Regulations secure his tunnel, and if, which I doubt, the party taking up a claim should derive any benefit from tunnel, he has the Drainage Regulations to protect him. But no, they must keep every part of the Shamrock Flat for their sole use and benefit, —I am, &c, William llodgebs. July 25, 1872.
