WESTPORT DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
The monthly meeting of the managing committee was held on Tuesday the 4th instant. Present—Dr. Giles, chairman, and Messrs Powell, Fisher, Bailie, Munson, Gilmer, Whyte, and Humphrey. The Medical Officer's report for<the> month of May was read, showing 9 patients in tho Hospital on the Ist of the month; admitted during the month, 6 } discharged, 10; deaths, 1. Ke. maining in the Hospital, on 31st ult, 4. In a note appended to his report, the Medical Officer called attention to the want of a bedstead suitable for patients suffering fracture of the lower limbs, injury to the spine &c, and recommended that one of Hoopers
Patent Eack and lifting Bedsteads should be procured* On the motion of Mr Fisher, seconded by Mr Gilmer, it was decided that the necessary bedstead should be obtained, Sundry small accounts amounting to £9 lis 6d were passed for payment. The following Committee was appointed to collect Subscriptions in the various Districts. Addison's Flat Powell and Bailie. Town of Westport—Messrs Fisher, Koche, Rowlands and Hum. pbrey. LyelL—Messrs Sloane and Zala. Northern Terraces—Messrs Beaton and Simpson. Giles I Terrace>-i-Mes'srs Harrison and Munsofc. Caledonian and German Terraces—Messrs Wbyte, Gilmer, Braithwaite,' and Barrie. South Spit—Mr Struthers. The Secretary was instructed to procure the necessary supply of Subscription Cards. The Visiting Committee reported that on inspection they had found everything satisfactory in the manage* ment of the Hospital. Messrs White, Fisher and Munro were appointed a Visiting Committee for the current month.
