The execution of Feeney for the murder of Charles Marks in the Melbourne Treasury Gardens took place on the 14 th ult. The cast of Feeney's head, exhibited in the window of the Waxworks Exhibition, Melbourne, has attracted a large number of gazers. The Victorian Government intend apparently, to try their hand at making another postal contract for the carriage of mails via the Cape. It was stated in the Legislative Council, by Mr Jenner, in reply to a question from Mr O'Shanassy, that the Government intended during the present session to apply to the Assembly for authority to expend money both for the purposes of a mail route via the Cape and for continuing the arrangements for the conveyance of the mails via Suez. One of the Ballarat lodges of the Manchester Unity Order is entering upon a very practical undertaking. From the '. Courier ' we learn that at a recent meeting " a resolution was carried approving of the establishment of a Technical and Practical Trades School in Ballarat, for the purpose of educating boys born in the town, in mechanical trades. This resolution will be laid before the next district meeting in June, for its approval. The prime movers in this matter intend as soon as the district meeting has confirmed the resolution, to invite the co-operation of all the local societies, so as to make the movement a general one in the town."
