MINING MEMORANDA.
As a proof of tho remunerative character of some of tho claims in the vicinity of the Arrow River (says tho * Arrow Observer of the 29th tilt.), wo may mention an instance wbich camo to our cars last week. A share in a claim was sold for £>S 10s, it not being thought much of; for the first week's work tho lucky purchaser realised the handsome dividend of £2l. Mr Vincent Pyke recently staled in the Lawrence Warden's Court, that ** He was informed that the Legislature next session weie likeiy to pass a hill doing away with Wardens altogether, and merge their present jurisiurisdiction into the Resident Magistrates' Courts. lie could not see why the Magistrates could not deal with mining cases* as well as the Warden, as thoy were the same persons sitting in different Courts." Tho ' Bendigo Independent' thus ■writes of the Great Extended Hustler's Tribute :—"Thiselaim bids fair to bocomothe most celebrated in tho annals of Bendigo mining,unless amongst some of the progressive mines now at ■work one is found to silence its pretensions. From somo statistics recently prepared we gather that since the 6th of November last 31,766<iz5, of a value oft something like £125,000, have been obtained. £111.300 has been paid in dividends to the fortunate shareholders, and £6OOO to tho company." At Inglewood recently a luuky •hatter has found a nugget weighing 1790zs 14dwt3, two feet below the surface of the ground. An -expedition is projected at Brisbane for tho purpose of thoroughly exploring Cape York Peninsula. It is belioved that tho district is highly auriferous. A private telegram from Tambaroora states the riches* vein ever known has been struck in Krohmah's mine. Tho Long Tunnel Gold Mining Company, Wathalla, has paid £IOO,OOO a-year in dividends for the past two years. Gold is being constantly found by the men employed in the construction of the Australian overland telegraph line. 130 gold mining companies have been formed in Sydney during the last quarter.
