RESIDENT MAGISTRATE COUET. Monday, April 1. (Before J. Giles, Esq., E.M.) Augustus Vaughan was brought up in custody of Constable Meredith, charged with being drunk and carrying drink into a brothel on Sunday. Fined 10s or 2-i hours. He went to gaol. There were a number of small debt cases disposed of to-day, but none of them were of sufficient importance to call for any report. WESTPOET WAEDEN'S COUET. Monday, April 1. (Before J. Giles, Esq., Warden.) John Braithwaite applied for a lease of certain ground at Middle Terrace. Objected to by M'Leod and party. Mr Fisher appeared for the objectors and applied to have tho northern boundary line altered so as to exclude all possibility of any encroachment by the objectors in working their claim. The objectors were ground sluicing at a face over 100 feet high, and if the applicants boundary was allowed to remain close up to tho objectors claim they would be unable to help washing away some 120 feet in his claim. He also applied to have a clam site and residence site excepted. Lease granted subject to objectors rights, aud excluding dam site and a piece in angle between northern and western boundaries. Butterworth.—Application for lease at Giles Terrace. Objected to by Lillio and party, on the ground that applicant could not work his loaso as proposed without interfering with their rights. Postponed to enable parties to come to terms. M'Leod and Bossard applied for a head water-race at Middle Terrace. Objected to by Peter Sorenson. Granted subject to Soreusons rights. Henry Eichards—Tail-race at Middle Terrace. Grauted. Andrew .Neilson applied for a creek
at Middlo Terrace to be used ass a taih race. Eefused.
The applicant made uae of some' rather loud and tall language .as be retired from the Court, when his Worship desired Sergeant Kiely to bring him back. When brought ifi he apologised for his conduct, and was allowed to go, his Worship remarking that people who gave too much ex. pressiou to their feelings within the precincts of the Court were likely to find themselves in gaol. Peter and Andrew Neilsou applied for a double area at Caledonian. Granted. John Crapper applied for an abau. doned tunnel. Granted. Hermann London.—Residence area at Caledonian for a garden. Granted.
