The Claud Hamilton, which arrived in the roadstead, Hokitika, March 13, brings files to the 6th instant. VICTORIA. A farmer named Alexander M'Donald, of Marcus-hill, near QueensclifF, was shot by James Kaig on Saturday. It is stated that motives of revenge actuated Kaig. M'Donald was brought into G-eelong hospital, when the wounds were found to be not very serious. The men are neighbouring farmers. James Glos'-er, a member of tha firm of Dobinson and Gloster, of Seymour, reports that he was stuck up at Avenel, on Saturday morning, at 4 o'clock. A man entered the waggon in which he'was sleeping, and presented a pistol at him. A struggle eusued, in the course of which Gioster succeeded in gaiu'ing possession of the pistol'; but the scoundrel got off, leaving his hat behind him. The pistol was discovered to be unloaded. The same evening, "Whilst returning home, and when about sit miles east of Seymour, Grioster was again stuck up, but not by the same man. The fellow presented a loaded gun at his head, and ordered him to " bail up." He discharged the weapon, and the shot entered near the right collar-bone, but no serious damage was occasioned. This man also escaped. The police having received information and a description of the men, have started in search.
