The South Yorkshire colliery owners have decided to grant the demand of their workmen for an advance of 5 pe< cent; this affects upwards of 14,w men. The "Erst meeting of the Alabama Arbitration Commission has been held Berne (qy. Geneva ?), when the ratification of powers and exchange of papers took place. The Lord Chief Justice has returned lo London from the meeting. There is a great f.alling-off in tie colonial book-trade. The London pub"< lishers not seeming disposed to cut* tivate colonial custom.
