Miscellaneous. Government Annuities Qflice, Wellington, Ist Dec., 1870. TOTIOB IS lIEKEBY GIVEN that Government Insurance and Annuities Offices, under " The GovernAnnuities Act, 18G9," and "The New Zealand Government Insurance and Annuities Act, 1870," have been opened at the Post Offices at .WESTPORT CHARLESTON GKEYMOUTII And all the principal Money Order Offices in the colony. The following advantages are secured by special provisions in the abovementioned Acts:— 1. Up to a certain amount, Assurance Policies lonajlde effected by the Assured upon his own life, and Endowment Policies, and Annuities purchased for the benefit of Wife or ChiIiTJBEK, are exempted from tho operation of the Bankruptcy Acts, and from seizure under legal process. 2. Up to a cerlain amount, Married Women may effect Policies, and dispose of the money assured by will, as if single ; and such Policies are free from the debts and control of their husbands. 3. Insurances may be effected for the benefit of wife and children, with power to apportion amount ; and such insurance is to be free from the claim of creditors, to the extent of £2OOO. ~_-AU -pefsbna wishing to obtain Life Insurances, Endowments, Annuities immediate or deferred, or other advantages under the Acts, will receive every information and the necessary forms on application at any of the above-named offices. W. GISBOPNE. TTNIVEESITY OF OTAGO. The following mentioned Classes will be opened in the University Building, Dunedin, about the beginning of June, 1871: 1. Classics.— Separate Classes for «1 unior and Senior Latin, Greek, and the English Language and Literature. Professor: G. S. Sale, M.A., late of Kugby, and formerly Fellow and Classical Lecturer, Trinity College, Cambridge. 2. Mathematics. — Separate Classes for Junior and Senior Mathematics ; Junior and Senior Natural Philosophy. Professor: John Shand, M.A., formerly First Mathematical Master in the Eoyal Academy, Gosport, England; and the Edinburgh Academy. 3. M'nfal and Moral Philosophy. — Classes for Logic, Mental Science, Moral Philosophy, and Political Economy. Professor: D. Macgregor, M.A., M.8., late Ferguson Scholar, in Mental and Moral Science. 4i, Nia'ural Science. — Classes for Chemistry, Mineralogy, &c, Will be opened in May, 1872. Professor: J. G. Black, M.A., D.Sc, Edinburgh University. The term will last for six months continuously, during the entire course of which Instruction will be giveu to each class by the Professor, by means of Text Books, Lectures, and oral and written Examinations.
