GENERAL SUMMARY.
The court-martial upon the Captain and officers of H.M.S. Megsera, has acquitted them of all blame, and has complimented them highly upon their exemplary courage, judgment, and fortitude under very trying circumstances.
Australian tinned meat is rapidly growing into public favour.
The hull of the Queen of the Thames has been sold for £350.
Captain Braden of the ship Star of Peace has been committed for trial charged with assassinating and wounding refractory seamen. There is to be an extra mail service this month via Gallc. The Nubia sails on Eebruary 2nd, and the Bangalore on the 13th.
The Tichborne case is dragging along slowly. Several witnesses proved the arrival of the Osprey in Melbourne in 1854, and the landing therefrom of the shipwrecked crew. The claimant's funds are failing.
