CHARLESTON.

(FHOM OtJB OWN COEBESPONDEKT.) Friday.

The Collins and Carroll Excelsior Company performed at the Casino de Veniso on Thursday evening last. In consequence of the time of their arrival not being published, the attendance was not so numerous as it would otherwise have been. The performance was decidedly clever throughout, and the singing and dancing of all the performers were very warmly applauded, particularly so the Marble Pedestal Dance by Messrs Collins and Carroll, and the singing and danciug of Miss Carroll. Owing to the indisposition of Mrs Collins she did riot appear in the second part of the entertainment, A performance is announced for this evening. In the Resident Magistrate's Court, on Friday, Stephen Lyons laid an information against Thomas Clune for assaulting him on Wednesday last. From the evidence it appeared that the cause of the assault complained of was the disagreement of the parties over a settlement, they having been formerly mates. A witness named Eddy stated that an altercation took place at Hehir and Molloy'a store, and that the attack was a simultaneous one on both sides, but that the defendant proved the stronger, and knocked the plaintiff down twice, and took a purse or bag out of his pocket. They afterwards had an amicable settlement of the accounts. The Magistrate told defendant he could not take the law in his own bauds and fined him 10s and coats.
