JOHN MOLLOT is hereby authorised, under the Provisions of Section XIII of " The Goldfieids Act, 1866," to keep a Ferry Boat on the Totara River, and charge tolls, from the Ist January, until the 31st December, 1872, as per schedule, on the following conditions : 1. That a competent Ferryman be always in attendance, with a good safe boat and proper rope for crossing horses. 2. That all Government Officers, includiug road overseer;?, laborers, and postmen, when on duty, shall be ferried across the asid river free of charge. This protection shall not be transferred without the sanction of the Superintendent. The Warden of the District shall, on being satisfied that the Ferry service is not being conducted in a proper and efficient manner, and in accordance with the above conditions, have power to suspend the operation of this protection utitil the matter of complaint be removed. Storekeepers and others at Hokitika and Qroymouth forwarding goods to Reefton can have the same stored Free of Charge, pending transit, Walton Pell having secured extensive and excellent accommodation for that purpose.
