Arrangements with Mr Brodgen [are progressing satisfactorily. A contract has been arranged for the Picton [And Blenheim line, the construction of
which is to be commenced immediately. Working surveys of the other lines, including the line to the Brunner coalmine, are to pushed on so as to enable the contracts- to be entered on.
Colonel Fielding, C.8., on behalf of the Immigration .and Colonists Aid Corporation, has purchased 120,000 [acres of the Manawatu block. The becomes bound to introduce and settle 2000 immigrants within seven years. Mr Vogel, Colonel Fielding, Mr Webb, and Mr Brogden left by thp Luna, for Auckland, yesterday.
