Lowe and party, tributors on the No. 1 leader, have crushed 15 tons, yielding within, a fraction of 4 ozs VQf ton, or 58 ozs 6 dwt. CAWiDONri..—The total amount' of gold lodged for the week's crushing, is 5060z5-, the result of partial employment of 62 heads. With regard to the rumor of gold being found in the bottom level, there is no truth whatever. A change is taking place, there is iro doubt, and that for the better, as is evidenced by a class pf minerals making their appearance in the reef as they get near the winze from the •cross-cut. It is earnestly hoped that this is the precursor of the precious metal, and many are of opinion, that ere the week is over we shall see gold. Inverness.—This company are now cleaning up at the Kurunui Company ; the stuff is being tested from the low level, ard according to the show it promises to give well on to I£ounces per ton, while the-specimens or picked stuff.'il, is anticipated,'' will fetch up to 3 ounces per■■toni a splen '■'■ did yield considering 1 tjfe size of 'the lode, which averagW''ih width th'-ee feet. Schofield and party, the tributors on the Long Drive leader, above' Kelly's tunnel, have crushed 30 tons at the Prince Alfred battery, and' below former returns, 7 being 35ozs I7dwts 12grs melted gold. George Stephenson—This claim is situated at the head of Hope Creek, |and it includes portions of the old ; Aladdin's Lamp and Black Eagle's 'ground, which have been abandoned from time to time", until the leader was opened, which has turned out j magnificently on many previous occasions. The leader averages about ;one foot wide, and is being worked by stopes above the intermediate level. ITo connect with this level, they have '.started a winze from the surface upon ;a leader cropping out, but whether it is :the same or not, as in the tunnel from : which so mauy specimens have been crushed, is not definitely ascertained; whether or not, the lode is turning out exceedingly rich. During the present week 22 tons of, stone have ;been crushed, which has yielded I oz-s retorted gold, also 84 tons speciImens yesterday, which yielded 1290zs 1 -.'dwst, and a prior lot of 70ozs ISdwts 3 was taken therefrom a week or ten I -'ays ago, so that the total yield from [it little over 22 tons of stone amounts I to 2440zs lldwts, an average of llozs BOdwta ton* .>'
