THE LATE SALE OF SHARES AT CHARLESTON.
•( To the 'Editor of tlte Westport Times and CJtarleston -Argus.) Sir,—l. as well as many others, have been much puzzled to know the reason why the shares recently disposed of by order of the agent of the ■curator of intestate estates were suid in Charleston. The property having heen situated at the Inangahua, it certainly seems strange that because Mr Donne happens to reside in Charfleston, he should cause the shares to be sold, there, as it must seem palpable to every one from the prices realised at the sale that the property was sold at a far less value than what it would have been had the sale taken place at Reefton, Westport, or at any place where the value of the property was known. One share that was sold for £360 would have brought in Westport. over £6OO. The other share was sold at a proportionately low rate. If Mr Donne carried the sale to Charleston to vent his spleen against some parties in Westport, who did not support him •during the late election, and I cannot «ee any other reason for his doing so, he must certainly be unworthy to have the trust placed in him of administering for the welfare of the parties whose interest he should guard. The curator also in appointing his agents should make sure and appoint parties who would judiciously and conscientiously perform the duties attached to their office, and who would no* be actuated by any private pique or friendly emolument. Hoping that the attention of the curator may be drawn to the matter, I am, &c, Justice. Westport, Dec. 19th, 1871.
