ARRIVAL OF THE ENGLISH MAIL VIA SUEZ.

(per greville's telegram company. reuter's agents.) Port Chalmers, Dec. 4. The barque Free Trader has arrived aftr a six days' passage from liobart Town. She brings the items of the Suez Mail confaiued in an extra published bj the " Hobart Town Mercury" on November 27. The P. and O. Co.'s steamship Rangoon was lost at Gralle together with the mails. The latest telegraphic date is London, November 6. Hobart Town, Nov. 27. The branch steamer Alexandra left Cape Brown and arrived ofF Glenelg at one o'clock this morning, with the distressing intelligence of the loss of the Royal Mail Steamship Rangoon, when leaving Gralle with the Australian mails, on November 1. All the mails were lost. The passengers aud crew saved, the former narrowly escaping with their lives, aud the loss of their luggage. The P. and O. Co.'s steamship Behar was despatched from G-alle on November 8.

GENERAL SUMMARY.

The following summary was prepared at G-alle after the wreck and telegraphed to the " Mercury's" Adelaide correspondent. The Captain and engineers of the ship have given evidence that she was completely rotten. A great fire has occurred at Windsor. Bank rate of discount is five per cent. Fipld-Marshal Sir John Burgoyne is dead. The Tichborne trial would be resumed on Nov. 7. Arthur Orton is'expected to be produced as a witness.
