REEFTON.

(from: our own correspondent.) The number of quartz mining shares transferred at Reefton during the past month, has been thirty-one, the prices varying from fifty to three hundred pounds. Amongst the latest transactions we find that Mr Button, of ITokitika, has bought a half share in 5 and 6 North, Kelly's reef, for <£lso ; Mr Kenrick, of Greymouth, a quarter share in same claim for £72 ; Mr C. Mace, a quarter share in Shiels's prospectors chum for £2OO. Considerable excitement has been created by No. 9 North, Kelly's line, having struck the reef, the appearances beiug such as to warrant the assumption that this will rivalthe richest claim on the Inangahua. Une of our local solicitors is fortunate in beiug a shareholder. Tho ground has in consequence been pegged off a distance of a mile to the left-hand branch of the Inangahua. A number of Eeeftonites interviewed Mr Dobson with the object of obtaining an extension of the surveyed township. A public meeting was afterwards held for the same purpose, which resulted in Mr Dobson promising that the Camp reserve, which is now of ten acres, would be reduced for the purpose of obtaining room for another street. There is a cause cnlebre coming oft', upon which Mr Guinness and Mr Stait, from Greymouth, are here in waiting. Mr Pitt, of Westport, is expected. Mr Warden Whitefoord is to be in attendance as a witness. 'The heavy freshets in the Inangahua have delayed Dr Giles, who was unable to leave the Junction until to-day at 4 a.m. Tho cargo boats have also been delayed at several places waitiug for the fresh to subside. It will be a great saving of time, labour, aud patience when the road across the flat is made, which will free us from the constant interruptions of traffic and intercourse from which of late we have suffered so much.
