TICHBORNE MEMORANDA.

A gentleman called at the office of the " Ballarat Uourier" and gave the editor documentary evidence of conclusive kind to prove that the present claimant of the Tichborne property is no other than Arthur Orton, butcher. The Tichborne case, which has called forth a cloud of witnesses from all parts of the colony, can have a witness or two (says the " Times") from Alexandra. Mr H. Perkins remembers Tom Castro well. Many a time in the same slaughtering yard with him has he seen Tom, as he was called, sitting on the fence, rope in hand, showing how he used to lasso cattle when he was in South America. He could also kill a beast and dress him as quickly and as well as any man he ever saw try it. " Harry my boy," he often said, " some day you will see me above this sort of thing." Harry thought little of his blowing, as he could see nothing in him but a very dirty, ill-dressed looking man, even for a butcher. A singular incident (says the "Geelong Advertiser") occurred during the examination of the Tichborne claimant, which certainly tells iu his favour. It is stated by a Victorian gentleman—the Hon. T. H. Fellows, we believe, who was present at the trial—that when the artist who executed so good a caricature of the illustration in the " Graphic" newspaper was in court, he was asked if he could see any other persons iu court bearing any resemblance to the claimant. He looked round the court and traced a resemblance in six or seven persona, we are not exactly certain how many. With noue of these persons was he acquainted, but on enquiry it was founds they all belonged to the Tichborne family. A woman who is named Cresswell, resident on the Cargo Creek, New South Wales, declares that the now celebrated Arthur Orton married her in the name of Cresswell.
