BULLER COALFIELD.

(To the Editor of the Westport Times and Charleston Argus.) Sir,—Coal, the outcrop of the Mount Rochfort field, is said to have been found within three miles of the Buller river, near the Cascades, which are distant seven miles from Westport. Provided the expense would not be much greater, or even if it were, would it not be desirable that the proposed line of railway should be carried up the river and then sweep round to Mount Rochfort ? By this means the present impediment to the Buller navigation in the shape of Snag Falls would be avoided ; and, what is more important, a goods and passenger traffic, which would pay the working expenses of the line, then would be called into existence as the traffic to and from the Inangahua would pass along such a line. Yours, &c. BuLLERITE. Westport, Nov. 15.
