EDUCATION EATE. Superintendent's Office, Nelson, July 12, 1871. PURSUANT to the Provisions of " The Education Act, 1863," the Su?ERi:N"TE:isr:DE> T T directs it to be notified, tbat the Annual EATE imposed by the said Act upon all Householdersresiding within the Educational Districts, will be LEVIED on TUESDAY, the Ist day of August; and thattho same will be received between the hours of Ten a.m. and Four p.m., namely— School-house, Stoke, by E. Dresswell Agricultural Hall, Waimea East, by William ISteer School-house, Waimea "West, by George Walker School-house, Eiwaka, by E. P. Pattie House of G. Taylor, Takaka, by G. Taylor. Police Station, Collingwood, by John Eishcr Court-house, Cobden, by S. G. Rowley Court-house, Westport, by the Sergeant of Police, W. A. Kiely School-house, Motupiko, by George Plower School-house, Dovedale, by Job Best The aforesaid Act requires that " every Householder in each Educational District shall pay annually Twenty Shillings, and a further sum of Five Shillings for every child of such Hr-useholder between the ages of five and fourteen years: Provided always, that no person shall be liable to pay for mere- tnan four children, nor for any child residing more than three miles from any school established under this Act; nor for any child attending any school not established under this Act, in respect of whom such persons shall produce to the Collector a crriiricato signed by the teacher of such school, showing that such child has attended during the three months previous to the levying of the rite."
