One-fourth cf the purchase money in cash on the fall of the hammer ; the remainder at or before the expiration of three calendar months from the day of sale, to be paid at the Office of the Commissioner of Confiscated Lands, Wanganui. By clause IS of the Confiscated Lands Begulations, under which the sale is to take place, "in the event of the second payment not being made as aforesaid, the sale shall be void, and the deposit forfeited." The town of Carlyle is situated upon the Biver Patea, which is about thirty-five miles north-west of Wanganui, and is now a Port of Entry. It is accessible to coasting craft and small steamers, and navigable for vessels drawing six feet for fifteen or twenty miles. Since May, 1870, when the greater part of the town and all but one of the suburban sections were disposed of, Carlyle has greatly increased in size and importance, and is the centre of a considerable trade with the surrounding districts. The rural land consists of detached sections interspersed amongst those belonging to private persons, for the most part in actual occupation of their properties. Extending as they do over a distance of some twenty-five miles from Carlyle, they differ considerably in value, and have been priced accordingly. ' Plans may bo inspected at the Office of the Secretary for Crown Lands, Wellington; at the Carlyle Survey Office; and at the Confiscated Lands Office, Wanganui. Begulations for the sale of the lands may bo seen in the "New Zealand Gazette" on the Ist June, 1871, and all required information obtained at this office. The B.s. WALLABI will convey passengers from WESTPOBT to WANGANUI for the purpose of attending the above sale; a Beturn Ticket being issued at the reduced price of £5. BOBEBT PHABAZYN, Commissioner of Confiscated L mds.
