A six horse waggon has been put on board to be used at the Landing if there is not sufficient water for the boat to proceed to Reefton. It appears that the water at times is sufficiently shallow in the Inangahua river to admit of a waggon and horses travelling without much difficulty along its bed.

During the last rough weather the sea carried away a strip of beach twenty-six feet in breadth, near to Mr Fraser's premises in Molesworth street.
The following are the returns of the Westport School for the quarter ended on Saturday last. There were 100 children on the roll, of whom 59 are boys and 41 are girls. There were 59 school days during the quarter, and the average daily attendance shows a considerable improvement upon the returns for the corresponding period of last year. We notico that Mr Langdon has made every preparation for working the punt. The roasts have been raised in order to increase the altitude of the wire rope, which is now stretched across the river, and all appears in readiness for working.
