A man named Bray, who has succeeded in swindling to the extent of £750, has bolted for Hobart Town. Measures have been taken to secure his arrest upon arrival. John Koome, found guilty of an unnatural offence, has been sentenced to six years' penal servitude ; and Alfred Reid has been sentenced to two years for criminally assaulting a child. The s.s. Hero took 1G370z of gold to Sydney. The Provincial revenue for the past quarter is £00,460, and the expenditure is £29,665. Extraordinary rich stone has been struck in the Caledonian mine, and shares are at £169. Dunedin, Sept. 20. A public meeting, held at Oamaru, has resolved to petition the Assembly, relative to the construction of a dock. Christchtxrch, Sept. 20. The Chamber of Commerce has passed a resolution approving the Government proposal to tax cereals.
