Kebble reports Colonial flour at £ls to £ls 10s; Adelaide, £l7 to £l7 10s. Auckland. A great fire has taken place here, and the New Zealand Insurance Company's new buildings are destroyed. Loss, £2,000 to £3,000. The premises were insured with the Victorian Company for £5,000. The first sod of the Kaipara railway has been turned. Caledonian shares are quoted at £l3O. The report of the company shows that £113,730 has been distributed in dividends, being £144 10s per share. News has been received from Melbourne that the Victorian Government has protested against the Communists being sent to New Caledonia. Christchurch. A sharp shock of earthquake was experienced yesterday morning at five minutes past two. Milling wheat has been quitted at 5s 4d ; flour, £ls ; oats in demand at 2s 7d. Napier. The immigrants per Halcione are all engaged. A child named Ellingham has been scalded to death through drinking out of a teapot.
