TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BXJLLEE DISTRICT. ENTLEMEN, —In consequence of VJT the very large amount of misapprehension that exists relative to my absence from the House of Assembly at the present time, I think it due to myself and to you that explanation should be given. What I have to offer is simply that at the first meeting of the General Assembly I was precluded from attending by circumstances over which I had no control—a short illness having interfered with mv preparations for departure, I was compelled to adjourn it for a time, which I did with little hesitation, having reason to believe that I would be present before anything of importance to this district or the colony could come on for discussion; and now, although unexpectedly and most vexatiously delayed by a break in the regular communication with "Wellington, via Wanganui, I still hope to be in my place before important measures are discussed. Had I resigned my seat in consequence of my being thus prevented from attending the early part of the session, I should have done that which would, according to my judgment, be unwarrantable. I have to attend to the business of my constituency, but also to that which my private engagements entail. I hope without sacrificing one to the other to do my duty to each, and it will be found when I can no longer do so satisfactorily that I will speedily, and I hope honorably, lighten my burthen. I am, Gentlemen, Tours faithfully, E. J. O'CONOR. GOOD NEWS] GOOD NEWS!! CHEAP"BOOTS! CHEAP BOOTS!!
