MR HARRISON'S RESOLUTIONS
Tuesday last the member for Groythoulh gave notice to move op 7th .September tho following resolu- ' tions : —That, in the opinion of this House, it is desirable, in order to secure the more economical and efficient administration of the territory comprised within the County of Westland afid the South-west Goldfields of the Province of Nelson, that the County Council of the County of "Westland be abolished. 2. That the South-west •Goldfields of the Province of Nelson he withdrawn from that Province. 3rd. That the territory above described be divided into districts, which shall also be Warden's districts. 4th. That for each district there shall be a Board of Works or Road Board, to consist of members elected by the electors of the district-, and that the Warden of the district shall be Chairman of such Board. sth. That the Colonial G-o vera men t assume the control and management of Warden's Courts, police, gaols, hospitals, lunatic asylum, survey, the construction of main roads, and the administration of waste lands. 6th. That the revenues of the District Boards shall consist of Tates to be levied on ratable property, and of a certain fixed proportion of the land fund and of revenues raised under any Groldfield Act or Gold Duty Act within the limit Of the territory.
