RESIDENT MAGISTRATE COURT.
Saturday, August 19. (Before S. Thorpe, Esq., J.P.) Drunkenness.—Ann Fallahee was charged with being drunk and disorderly in the public street the previous Say. Fined 20s, or, in default, 48 hours' imprisonment. VAGEANcr.—Ann Fallahee was further charged under the Vagrant Act with being a habitual drunkard, having been thrice convicted of drunkenness within the preceding twelve months. According to the evidence it was shown that three convictions had taken place within one week. The defendant was sentenced to three months' imprisonment in Nelson Gaol. Wilfully Damaging Pbopkety.— A third charge of wilfully and maliciously breaking three panes of glass in the police quarters- wis brought against the defendant in r i; two previous cases; and the offence having been proved, she was sentenced to two months' imprisonment in the Nelson G-aol. The sentences to be cumulative. A fourth charge of damaging a constable's uniform, <fec, was proved, but included by the Bench in the previous charge, both acts having taken place" while the prisoner was in custody. Monday. August 21. Wilful Desteuotion of Pbopebty.—Margaret Kiag was charged
with having wilfully broken two panes of glass in the Nelson Hotel about six o'clock on Sunday morning. The damage was fixed at £3 10s. The prisoner admitted the offence. T. Sheahan (prosecutor) stated that he did not desire to press for the fullest penalty. Imprisonment with hard labour for one aonth.
