AUCKLAND.
It is proposed to amalgamate the Long Drive, All Nations, Junction, and Inverness claims in the respective proportions of 7000, 5000, 3000, and 2000 shares, making the total number of shares in the new company 17,000. The Central Italy claim has struck good gold, and its shares are now quoted at 455.
The Auckland Gas Company has declared a dividend at the rate of 15 per cent.
The Ohinemuri natives have found some rich quartz, and are getting more disposed to open up the country. Te Hira has made a present to Tawhiao's daughter of a large block of Ohinemuri land. Nothing is likely to be done in the construction of roads or telegraph lines between Ohinemuri anl Cambridge, until the result of, the approachiag native meeting is known.
