News li.-is been received in Sydney of tha wreck of the schooner " Euivm, I'aterson," while on her passaue from Noumea, New Caledonia, to Lifu (New Hebrides.) The 6e.hooiHT was a small one of sixty-nine tons, commanded by Captain Edffrr. * The vessel left Sydney on the 2nd April list, with cargo for New Caledonia and missionary stores shipped by the Rev, .1. P. Sunderland, for mission station at New Hebrides. The vessel arrived safely at New Caledonia, and discharged her cargo, and sailed on the 25th April, but put into Debois Bay (south end of New Caledonia.) In beating out of the bay, the schooner missed stays, and went on shore on a coral reef. The crew, numbering four hands, determined toabandon the vessel, :>nd Captain Edger ordered the mate to leave wil/i them in the whalobont to procure some assistance at. Noumea. They are all supposed to have perished, but. their fate is involved in some mystery. The boat was picked up on the Bth May, at Noum a, by one . f the pilots ful of water. There was a human hand and two feet in her, which were identified by Captain Edger as the remains of the mate. The coasting schooner Bronzewing sighted the wreck of the schooner, and took off Captran Edger, and landed him at Noumea, on the 9th. The wicek was purchased by Mr. L J rcsh for the sum of £l2O, and there is every probability of her being got off. Meesers. McMcckan, Blackwood, and Co, of Melbourn , were the owners, and had the hull insured in a Melbourne office. SAN FRANCISCO MAILS.
