WESTPORT HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Hospital Committee took place on Tuesday evening. Present: Dp. Gfl e8 (Chairman), the Rev. Father Walsh Messrs Whyte, Humphrey, Powell' Graves, Simpson, and Munson. The previous minutes were read aud con. firmed. A letter was received from Mr John Corr, declining to act upon the Committee. The medical officer reported five patients in the Hospital at the commencement of the month and during the month four had been received into and three discharged from the institution, leaving six in. mates %t the present time. The Visiting Committee reported every, thing to be satisfactory in connection with the management. The Treasurer reported that there remained a balance of £92 8s 6d, due by the Government as subsidy of subscriptions, in addition to fifty-seven weeks' board of Government patients, which, if paid, would enable the Committee to meet current expenses until June 30, the close of the financial year. There was a sum of £4B due on the past month's accounts, and the probable requirements for the current month were £IOO. The Chairman stated that he would represent the matter to the Government. A sub-committee, consisting of Dr. Giles, Messrs Whyte and Fisher, was appointed to draw up the annual report, and the following com. mittees were appointed to collect sub. scriptions in the various districts for the ensuing year—Addison's Flat: Messrs Bailie and Powell. Giles Terrace : Messrs Munson and Hani son. Caledonia Terrace: Messrs Graves and Braithwaite. German Terrace: Messrs Whyte and Barry. Northern Terraces: "Messrs Beaton and Marshall. Mr Simpson was ap. pointed to canvass Reefton, and to appoint local collectors; and Messrs Sloan, Montgomery, and Mangoes were appoiuted collectors for the Lvell district. The Eev. Father Walsh will take the South Spit and Bradshaw Terrace, and Messrs Fisher. Humphrey, Pitt, and Rowlands were appointeda town committee. The Secretary was desired to communicate with Messrs Sweet, Davis, and Watson, requesting their co-operation in receiving subscriptions from the Northern diggings, Mokihinui, and Karamea.
