Thames are quoted at £36 ; in this company a dividend of £4 per scrip his been declared. Alburnian Co's. are quoted at £2. A boat has capsized at the Thames. J. Daniels and A. Leon were drowned. J. Green, the remaining occupant clung to the boat several hours, and was altnnately rescued but died yesterday. The s.s. Hero has arrived from Sydney. She brings the intelligence that the Government of New South Wales had voted £15,000 subsidy for a Californian mail service. The census shows the population of the Province of Auckland to be 62,300 Wheat is firm; flour £l4 10s. Middle Island flour is quoted £l4. The new rifle volunteer corps paraded at Tauranga yesterday under Capt. Morris. It is composed principally of veteran soldiers and militia. The movemeut ia very successful. The extension of the telegraph line is proceeding satisfactorily. Mr Commissioner Clarke and Mr Hamlin, E.M., proceeded inland yesterday upon very important business. Mr Douglas M.P.C. addressed his constituents at a numerously attended meeting, and a vote of confidence was unanimously passed.
The steamer Lord Ashley arrived at the heads at 9 a.ni, landed her mail and passengers, and steamed off immediately for Napier. The mail for southern ports was put on board the cutter Whitby at the beads. Oamartt, June 2. Wheat is selling readily at 4a 9d; held for 5s ; oats Is 9d to 2a ; barley, first quality 3s 6d ; flour £l4 to £l4 10s ; potatoes, 30s to 40s per ton.
