Petitions from the "Weatport .Fire Brigade and ex-constable Irwin have been presented to the Superintendent. Hokitika, May 10. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commenced to-day. The calendar is exceptionally light, there being only five cases. A true bill was found in each case. In his charge to the Grand Jury Judge Richmond paid an affecting tribute to the memory of the late Mr Abbott. Dunedin, May 10. The officers of the p.s. Nevada will be entertained to dinner by the inhabitants of Port Chalmers to-morrow and in Dunedin by the Chamber of Commerce on Friday. Her sailing is postponed until Monday.
