A woman named M'Phee cut her child's throat with a butcher's knife, almost severing the head from the body. She then attempted suicide, inflicting wounds from the effects of which she is not expected to recover. It appears that a partner of the woman's husband, named Kane, had ravished her, and this, it is supposed, so preyed upon her mind as to have led to the committal of the terrible act. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of Kane.
