(per greyille's telegram: company , reuter's agents). Spit, Napier, March 30. The Luna arrived here yesterday afternoon with representatives of the Middle Island Volunteers. They were received at the port and escorted to town hy the cavalry, artillery and rifle volunteers headed hy the bands of each body, and were entertained in the evening at the Oddfellows' Hotel. The Luna sailed south this morning. The captain reported a north-east gale at Auckland on Saturday, causing damages to the extent of £SOOO to shipping alone. Dunedin, March 30. The census for the Province shows a total population of 70,000 being an increase of nearly 14,000 since 1867. A fatal boat accident has occurred on the Pleasant Eiver, resulting in the death, by drowning, of a boy named Kyan. The libel cases are concluded and Mr Barton has been committed for trial on both charges. Mr Macassey spoke for three hours. Nelson, March 30. A lode of galena, five feet thick, has been found running parallel with the Perseverance reef, Collingwood. It yields eighty per cent, of lead. Two men have been seriously iujured by a powder explosion at the Canterbury claim, Collingwood.
