WHEREAS, a Notice was issued in " Gazette," numbered 3G, dated Ist December, 1870, granting Protection, under the provisions of " The Qoldfields Act, ISGO," to William Courtney for a Tramway to bo constructed by liim from the corner of Wharf and Bright-streets, Westport, to Atkinson's Hotel, near the Orawaiti And whereas it is desirable that authority should also be given to the said William Courtney to extend the said Tramway: Now therefore, T, Oswald Curtis, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in exercise of the powers vested in me do hereby, subject to the terms and conditions contained in the Notice referred to, and published in the said " Gazette," Grant unto the said William Courtney, Protection for Five Tears, from the Ist day of December last:, for an extension of the said Tramway from the junction of Bright and Molesworth-streets, along Molcsworth-street to its junction with Gladstone-street, and thence along Gladstone-street to the bank of the Bullcr River.
