The " Independence Beige," of the 7th, publishes several letters from French officers, prisoners in Germany, protesting against the restoration of the Bonapartes to the throne, and against the distribution (gratis) of the Imperial journal, "Le Drapeau," among the prisoners. A French pa er states that Mile. Marguerite Bellanger has died of small-pox at Cassel. She has left to her surviving child (the one so often mentioned in the secret papers of the Tuilleries) a residence in the Avenue Friediand, a splendid country seat, and deeds of various descriptions. Reliable authority is credited with the statement that 30,000 families are prepared to emigrate from Alsace and Lorraine in case the Prussians are to sever those provinces from France. " Never will the population submit to Prussian rule." The Paris "Figaro" endeavors to make " game " of carrier pigeons. It solemnly avers that one of them, which was shot while going into Paris with important dispatches, swallowed the same while rolling its eyes in its death agonies—faithful and Frenchy to the last. The burden on Germany of supporting the great number of French prisoners is very onerous, as there is an absolute lack of shelter for them, and it is fouuu juttce&suiy to construct winter quarters at a heavy expense. A California legislator lately arose from his seat and said: —" Mr. Speaker I straddle that blind—beg pardon— I mean I second the motion."
