THE ELECTIONS.
(BY ELECTTtIG TELEGRAPH.) (from our own correspondent.) Nelson, Feb. 11. Motueka Election resulted in a tie. Sir David Munro, 193 ; Parker, 193 ; casting vote of the Eeturning Officer in favor of Munro: Invercargill, Monday. The result of the polling for the Mataura is, Dillon Bell, 135 ; Kinross, 73; Denniston, 70. (From the West Coast limes.) Auckland, Feb. 8. In the East Coast election, Mackay Skeet, and Kelly were nominated. The show of hands was for Skeet. A poll was demanded. The election for AVaitemata took place to-day. Mr T. Henderson and Captain Freer were the candidates. The election resulted in the return of the former by a large majority. An inquest was held to-day into the circumstances of the burning of the kerosene store. The verdict was " Incendiarism by some persons unknown." Five thousand rations werejssued to destitute persons last month. Arrived.—Queen Bee, from London, with sixty passengers. Pooebe and Emerald, from Lyttelton. Thames, Feb. 7.
Arrived, late last night, the s.s. Wonga Wonga, from Sydney. She sailed again at two o'clock to-day Passengers—32 cabin and 42 steerage, including Mr and Mrs Charles Matthews, who gave a morning performance, instead of one last night, to a full house. The Luna leaves to-day, for Wellington, with the Hon. Mr M'Lean. Commissioner Branigan cannot go, his health not permitting. He has been removed to the Lunatic Asylum. The Tauranga mail question is finally settled. The Maoris carry the parcels. Feb. 8. The result of the polling for Waitemata to-day is—Henderson, 212 ; Capt. Freer, 73. Water supply works for the township are to be commenced immediately.
