THE BURGLAR DUNN.

ATTEMPTED ESCAPE FROM MOUNT EDEN.

The -"'New Zealand Herald " of k 26tK'gives the following account of daring attempt to escape from Mom Eden Stockade, and the pi lcky condii of a warder :

On Wednesday morning, betwe three and four o'clock, a most daring; tempt to escape from the Stockade w made by three prisoners now awaitii trial. From inquiries made, we w been enabled to gather the following |» ticu'ars :—The warder, G. Martin, m rushed by three men. With admiral! presence of mind he threw the kej away into the middle of the yard, as tackled the three desperadoes siiigl handed. The attack was so sudi and unexpected, that Martin had I time to draw his revolver, so therein nothing for it but main strength ai pugilism.
