Mr M'Lean polled 15(J, and Mr Huteheuson 154. Invercargili., Jan. 21. At the polling to-day for a seat in the General Assembly "for the town, Mr Calder had 142 votes, and Mr Lumsden DO.
CnnisTonußCit, Jan. 24. In the Intel-provincial Cricket Match between Otago and Canterbury, the latter won in one innings, having scored 209.

Mr Eeader Wood defeated Mr T. W. King at Parnell. Mr O'Eourke was elected at Onehunga without opposition. W. Bucklaud and A. Clarke were elected for Eranklyn. The JNatives have prohibited roadmaking at Taupo, and say they will shoot the roadmen if it is continued. Sailed.—Virago, with the Governor and suite ; and the Kate, for Sydney.
