Hokitika, Wednesday
Anthony Noble, tho colored man, who murdered Mary Jane Molaumby, on the 7th instant, was tried yesterday, found guilty, and sentenced to death. A very remarkable chain of circumstantial evidence was corroborated by the confession made by Noble to a fellow prisoner.
He was followed from the Court House by a demonstrative crowd to the gates of the gaol. A. witness in the previous inurder
case, named Sarah Dugmore, has been committed for perjury. Wellington, Tuesday. The general election returns for the Hutt were— Fitzherbert 90 Colsou ... 9 Being a majority of SI for Air Fitzherbert.
