It is customary for those who come before this constituency, soliciting support, either to find fault with the Press for representing them on the one hand, or misrepresenting them on the other, while credit is taken for what may have ended well during their term of office, and responsibility is ignored with what has miscarried. In asking the electors to place them again at the head of the poll, Whyte and Pirie pledge themselves not only to refrain from the habit of abusing the Press—which seems to be growiug on our modern public men—but will undertake all the responsibility of the results of their CLOTHING ADMINISTRATION. NEW CRIMEAN SHIRTS. Not only are New Crimean Shirts to be had at WESTPORT HOUSE, but each shirt will be fouud rivalling its neighbours in some peculiarity ; and other shirts will be arriving, " with all convenient speed," to take the place of the present favorites, and to become favorites in their turn. From a calculation, based upon the most reliable data, it has been ascertained that a quantity of the Six-Shilling Flannel Shirts has been secured nearly sufficient to supply the demand during the holidays. THE LATEST NEWS. The arrival of the p.s. Lyttelton has placed us in possession of intelligence confirming the rumor that WHYTE & PIRIE had bought a stock of MEN'S CLOTHING, at a large discount, and that a portion of tbe Stock, most suitable for Westport, was positively to be forwarded to afford an opportunity to speculators to invest.
