NEW GOLDFIELD IN TASMANIA.
Tbemostimportant newswehave ever published with reference to the yield on Tusmanian gdldflolds came to hand, says the "Cornwall Chroniclo" of the sth iust., last night. Messrs James and John Marshall, two sturdy honest Scotchmen, arrived in town and aro staying at the Union Inn, Georgestreet. One of them arrived on Sunday, the other, James Marshall, rodo in from the Black Boy yesterday via Rose's Tiers, and he brings with him two pounds weight of rich nuggety alluvial gold, a beautiful ounce nugget, the largest yet found in the colony, and a Bmaller nugget of sdwt. This
fine parcel of gold, valued at over £IOO, was obtained by the Marshalls and James Wills in a fortnight's work on alluvial ground at Beedy Marsh. There are about 120 diggers at the Black Boy, fifty of whom are making high wages on the alluvial diggings. The others are employed in opening out reefs. The Marshalls will dispose of their gold and leave town on their return to Keedy Marsh to-day, but as they will not leave town early, anyone who may be incredulous as to the facts stated may see the gold at the Union Inn, see the owner of it, and judge for themselves. The fortunate miners have commenced driving a gutter to find the bed of the reef where this gold came from, and they have good reason to believe that the ground will become richer as they proceed.
