The inclement weather experienced during the past two days has been the means of detaining the steamers Storm Bird and Kennedy in port. The former boat was expected to flail for Wellington and Wanganui early this morning, and the Kennedy left for Hokitika at 6.45 yesterday evening. The schooner Maid of Erin, from Melbourne, was being discharged on Tuesday, but only a limited portion of the cargo was got out on that day owing to the boisterous weather. The 6chooner Standard, loaded with « small general cargo for Brighton, and the Three Friends for Charleston, are also awaiting a favorable opportunity to proceed to their destinations. The schooner Woodquest is chartered to proceed to the Karamea with a email cargo, and will sail, weather permitting, towards the close of the week.
A telegram received yesterday reports that the Hokitika and Greymouth bars are once more in a favorable condition.
The barque Santon took her departure from Auckland for New York on the 22nd ultimo with the following cargo ; —1574 bales flax, 869 cases gum, 298 bales tow, 15 coils rope.
From the Herald we learn that the United Btates steamer Eesaca is at present in Auckland harbor, and has been visited by large numbers. She was to leave Auckland about the Ist inst.
