Brown, commander, with August European mails per Malta, arrived off Glenelg at 1 p.m., making the homeward passage in 97 hours, the outward passage occupying 102 hours. The Avoca, Capt. Parquhar, arrived at the Sound at 8.30 p.m. on Sept. 17, and sailed at 2 a.m. on the IBth. The Malta arrived at the Sound at 6.30 a.m. on the 20th, after a splendid passage from Galle of 12 days 20 hours, being the fastest on record. She experienced splendid weather the whole trip, and was to leave for Melbourne at 6 p.m. the same day.
