The news to haud by the Suez mail, which wa3 published in the form of an " Extra" yesterday afternoon, and which is republished iu our present issue, is iu the last degree interesting, not alone from the repeated victories of the German forces culminating in the surrender of 90,000 French troops at Sedan, and the capture of Louis Napoleon, who is now a piisoner of war at Berlin, but also in the extraordinary political changes that have transpired siuce the previous mail. The fourth French Eevolution has been completed, and a Republic proclaimed without bloodshed, and the nation have but one sentiment —to repel the invader. The unlooked for manner in which these mighty changes have been effected must astonish alike France and the Powers of Europe "Where it was expected all would be discord and confusion is likely to prove her greatest safeguard, and the very event which it was anticipated would result in the close of the war, aud pave the way to a permanent peace, is more likely to lead to the prosecution of hostilities with increased vigour and unabated fierceness. The extraordinary despatch with which the news has arrived in Australia as also in Now Zealand is also worthy of mention. On the 24th Sept., five days previous to her contract time, the news by the Suez stenmer is known in Melbourne, and on the 29th the news is carried to this distant Colony, placing us in possession of the great events that have transpired in Europe up to the sth of September. It is very questionable whether the San Francisco mail, due shortly, will supply any later intelligence.
