THE UPPER KARAMEA DIGGINGS.
The Nelson Examiner gives, on reliable authority, most satisfactory accounts of the ground at Salisbury's Open, on the Upper Karamea, and also of the gold obtained from the Motueka Eiver, in the neighborhood of the Baton. Notwithstanding the snow still on the ranges, a considerable number of men are making their way to the Upper Karamea, the success of those who have lately tried the ground being of the most satisfactory character. In order to allow of stock being driven there, the miners are cutting a track through the bush, from the head of the Pearce, by which they will get over the range at a much lower height than by assending to the Loadstone by the old track. A large rush to Salisbury's Open is fully expected so soon as the weather shall improve, and the success of those ou the ground become known. The men engaged on the bars of the Motueka River are also reported to be doing remarkably well.
